    This is a great …
This is a great post pete. A good footing for people new to running web sites/businesses.

A friend of mine just got a deal with ICANN for becoming a registrar, so I may have a $1 domain site to share. If that turns out to be true i’ll send that info to ya pete and you can share it at your discretion.

  • subfuzion says:

    He could transfer …
He could transfer his domain registrar from yahoo to MS small business and be done with yahoo all together. Just keeps things a little more organized for him so he doesn’t have to hunt down who to renew his domain with.

Transfering the domain is easy, but some domains and registrars can’t do some transfers due to not having clearence iwht Icann.

    Yahoo is your …
Yahoo is your Domain registry and can stay that way but your hosting will be pointed to the new name servers that MS Small business gives you.
Its not hard at all.. Just in your Yahoo domain manager change the “name servers” to the new ones they provide and your off and running.
You will have to allow up to 48 hours for the x-fer. It sometimes takes that long for all the ISP’s to get the updated info.
    hope that helps,
    -Pete

    Pete-

I have a quick question. Yahoo is currently where I host my site and I got my domain name through them. So I pay them every month.

When I switch to MS small business, I noticed that I can TRANSFER my domain to them so I can keep the domain and not get a new one.

I’ve never done this before so in general, is it difficult to transfer a domain to a new provider?

Awesome.. Well if you run into issue let me know.. Also if its to hard to use I will give you a cpanel account (hosting) to get you started.
When you build your site with SEO in mind you will be kicking off the site on the right foot.
    Glad you found it useful.
    Enjoy your weekend,

Hey pete. I guess this was timely for me as well. I have been trying to figure out how to re-do my site so that I can use it as a shopping cart. After laboring I went with Auctiva only to find that it’s not very user friendly.

To make a long story short, someone told me about Microsoft Live small business and you get a site free with them. So I am gonna give them a shot.

I am completely re-doing my entire site now so this info will come in handy as I dont know much about SEO.
