Why is there more traffic on Tuesdays than Mondays?

I’ve noticed that there’s usually more traffic on the freeway (or local) on Tuesdays, and only a little bit of traffic on Mondays and Fridays (especially in the summer)… WHY?

Monday gives people a three day week end and they take off on that day or Friday for a three day week end and then there is less traffic.

I would guess cuz people wanna avoid the first typical day of the work week and start on tuesday but in turn that causes havok on tuesday instead… or people are out too late on sunday, wake up on time monday, are drained and wake up late and rush on tuesday… like me. lol

Tuesday is the day of the week people actaully wake up off their behinds not noticing that it’s already Tuesday and not Monday. This is true during Summer-time.

Not all jobs are Monday through Friday. Some are Tuesday through Sat, or Sunday through Thursday. Some jobs are Sunday and Wednesday off. But most jobs seem to be open always on Tuesday, therefore, more people on the roads on that certain day of the week. One more thing, if someone does have Sat/Sun off, then they might take Mon. off also for a three day weekend.

There may appear to be less traffic on Mondays because those who were out drinking or partying Sunday night usually run late Monday mornings. By Tuesday those hangovers are gone and the people get to work on time.

For those with office jobs, more work is done in the office on Mondays catching up with the paperwork that came in the Friday before and over the weekend. Again, on Tuesday, they can get out to their meetings, running errands, or anything else they have to do for their line of work.
